5 out of 5 stars StarCraft 2 Delievers Where it Counts   July 29, 2010
mam219
I followed StarCraft since I was a young teenager and played SC 1 for a long time up to even a couple of months ago. I have had my eye out on SC 2 for some time and even now at age 26, I get the same excitement as I did as a teenager. br / br /I played SC 2 beta and got to play single player for the first time...and.. br / br /..the game is awesome. Just having time playing the first few missions, you can tell they put a ton of time into the small details of this game. The production quality is outstanding and to say differently is to be blind. You can pass lots of time even just between missions just exploring everything. It was everything I expected and more. Missions are varied and fun and offer a step beyond similiar RTS games. br / br /The multiplayer is killer. Having played beta before, I already knew this. BNet 2.0 has lots of features and adds replay value which will keep me busy years to come. The balance is superb and will only get better with patches. There is no lobby chat, but Blizzard has already said they intend to add this down the line. br / br /Just having played the single player arcade mini-game, you can tell the Galaxy Map Editor is super powerful. Its WarCraft 3 times 10. The fact that Blizzard has put time into the editor and released it free of charge measn the community and all of its genious will pump out all sorts of amazing custom maps for years and years. br / br /Having all of this combined, it equals incredible value for you the customer. This isnt a game you will be shelving after you beat it in a month. That is why Blizzard games are always top quality. The fun and replayability is incredible. br / br /I for one am impressed and can't wait to see what else comes down the line for StarCraft 2. br / br / br /BUY THIS GAME!!! br / br /PS I run the game at 1920 x 1080 on a Palit 9600GT, AMD X2 3.0 Ghz, and it runs Ultra smoothly. Thank Blizzard for making this game highly scalable on all systems. br / br /*** Understand there is a Amazon review flame war going on so you might want to read some different reviews from another site. For all the 1-star givers, they are truly missing out on a diamond in the rough. br /

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Impressed   July 29, 2010

I was expecting this game to be choppy on my computer but it runs extremely smooth. The graphics are extremely impressive and the campaigns are immersive. Each mission feels like you are actually making a difference. The voice-over comments add real depth to the experience. br / br /I am not a big fan of Activision but I am a big fan of Blizzard. If they price the other 2 expansions at 60 dollars, I have no intention of buying either. br / br /Nearly every single 1 star rating complained about no LAN play and no offline play. However, you can play offline, if you want. The "no LAN support" issue sounds like a complaint that would have been relevant 15 years ago, not today where broadband internet is in nearly every home. br / br /It's a very fun game if you don't mind the inability to play over a LAN and have an internet connection up all the time so that you can play in your account instead of as an offline guest. I've yet to experience the multiplayer aspect.

5 out of 5 stars I dunno what's more fun about SC 2...   July 29, 2010

Playing the best RTS out there, hands-down, or watching the epic nerdrage reviews try and downrate the game to keep people from buying it. Lulz, go ahead. It won't stop the juggernaut from rolling over you. The next two parts WILL come out. They WILL sell well. This game WILL continue to make Blizzard money for a LONG time. Your pathetic rants will be as meaningless as the lives that spawned them. So rage. Rage, and be lol'ed at for such yummy tears. QQ moar nubz. :D

4 out of 5 stars More of the same and that's a good thing   July 29, 2010

First of all, yes... they've done away with LAN play but that isn't a big deal. Back when the original Starcraft came out most people had dial up internet. LAN play was essential back then. Now most households have DSL, Cable, or Fiber. It isn't big deal to play via internet from one location if you still want to have a LAN party. br /Another thing... YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE ON THE INTERNET TO PLAY! The game will offer to let you play in single player mode if your internet connection is down. br /Blizzard also gets props for the integration of their games into one Battlenet. While playing SC2 I could see my friends who were playing World of Warcraft and send them messages between the games and they could reply. VERY COOL! br /Now for the actual gameplay. The game plays very much like the original albeit with improved graphics. Some old units are gone and new units take their place. I like the single player game where you unlock new units depending on the missions you take. You also accumulate money used to buy upgrades for units and structures. Once the upgrade is bought it applies to all following missions. br /I am very glad that I bought this title. It is a worthy successor to the original.

5 out of 5 stars Alot of 1 stars here are playing the game like it was 5 star   July 29, 2010

Gaming has evolved and Blizzard realizes that it must also. This title is solid, and much like World of Warcraft will probably be refined even further for years and years to come. The gameplay and balance are already top notch and most likely best in class (like WoW was on release). Tons of top tier professional players have put their faith in Blizzard from the beginning and appreciated the game's new features and gameplay even during the beta phase. br / br /Alot of the weak reviews here are more than likely from would-rather-have-pirated gamers, or people who find a few minor flaws with the game and rate it 1-star in order to try to have Blizzard react the minor problems and insert chat channels, lan, etc. These 1-star reviewers are probably hooked and playing exclusively SC2 right now, yet are willing to deprive others of the same enjoyment to fix their little annoyances. br / br /You need to realize that Blizzard is a lucrative company (always has been) and if it makes money the next titles will be all that much better, because it can hire more artists, programmers, and still increase profit, etc. I don't think that many volunteers work at Blizzard. My suggestion - buy three copies and rejoice that PC gaming lives strong with Blizzard, and will continue with Diablo 3 and WoW expansions.
