Forget all the naysayers for this game. It's great! I was hesitant to get this game at first because I read a lot of poor reviews, but then my girlfriend got it for me as a gift, and I have to say I am happy she did. A lot of the negative reviews are for two reason, 1) being it doesn't work on their computers 2) its not as fun, or too complicated compared to the RCT1 or 2.
For the first reason, most of the reviews that claim this are old, when the game first came out. Its now years later and most (decent) computers have the graphic capabilities and direct x 9 now to run this game no problem. I have a 4 year old laptop that runs this thing just fine. Also, that is a poor review for a game anyways.
As for the second reason, I believe people just need to play a little longer and they will find it is very similar to the old ones. As for myself, I played tons of RCT1 and I loved every minute of it. I was hesitant to get this title because people say it is nothing like the old ones. I couldn't find that to be any further from the truth. After about 10 minutes of playing, and WITHOUT going through the tutorials, I already knew what to do. There are some features that are a little difficult to get a grasp on, like the event mixer, but this is completely optional and only adds to the fun. The camera controls are a little fussy, but its nothing someone who is used to using a 2 button mouse cant handle. Other than that, you will find yourself going into the same routine as you did in the old RCT titles.
What is really amazing to me is the flexibility of this game. There are sooooo many features and intricacies that you can add to your park, you wont even know where to begin. There are infinite number of possibilities. Once you get used to the event mixer, you will find yourself messing with it for hours. Its simply amazing. I highly recommend this game to any fan of RCT or and Tycoon fan in general. The only negative side to this game is that you wish you had a college degree in Theme Park Design.

You get Tycoon 3 plus the Wild and Soaked feature packs all in one for a great price. The kids have been glued to the PC ever since.

I have been a Tycoon fan for years, i have played 1, 2 and 3 in the series.
My review of this game is pretty bold, but i feel that it should be said, for people interested in purchasing this one.
I found that this game had a lot of the bells and whistles as the others, there are many new features that make the game enjoyable.
You can build and ride your own creations, that is a plus i must say, you can load and enjoy your own music tracks on the rides as well.
There are many new coasters and thrill rides ext, also many new water rides and themes to make your park look like the real thing.
Shops and stalls have been updated as well and play a key role in your over all park value as they always have.
Cons= I found that even though the user interface on this one is simplified, it still is hair pulling in parts if you don't know exactly what to do.
Example,it can be a pickle just to get your peeps to a pool area via a walk way, the mix master display (fireworks), is a cool new option if you can figure out how to make it work!
Over all the game runs pretty well the same as others, just has more detailed options that you can choose from.
I strongly DO NOT recommend this game to anyone that has never played any of the previous series's, you indeed will be lost in many areas.
I DO recommend that you play RCT 2, it has more of a solid basic layout and you want be confused by many of the detailed options that this one offers.
In closing for the die hard RCT fans that are already aged on the principle of the game it is worth checking out, if this is your first time playing RCT i would recommend you start out with one of the earlier ones.
But then again there are certain things in this one that you just have to figure out on your own.
This is my review, but it's your dime so you should be the judge.

Game is very fun and gives you a lot of freedom while building your park. Building water parks are fun so i would recommend getting this version is Rollercaoster tycoon.

I bought this game for my son. Unfortunatly he has not been able to play because there are compatibility issues with Windows Vista. I have tried the patches for this program and am still not able to get it to work for him. I'm very disappointed. I didn't even want to give it one star but this site would not let me save my comments otherwise.
