Wonderful August 20, 2010 D. Maruca (Jacksonville, FL USA) Don't pass this version of the bible over. I've listened to the NT 5-10 times over the last month and I have to say the voices are phenomenal. I love the narrator's voice and the ones of the pharisees. It is very soothing and inspiring to hear Jesus' words on these cd's. My only complaints about the voices is I think the voices of the demons are just stupid and too loud. Also, some of the blind beggars that Jesus healed are turned up too loud. I have to turn the stereo down at those points, but other than that all is good. I believe the NLT translation is excellent for this use. I wouldn't choose this for deeper study, but you will feel edified after hearing.
I choose this version over the newer NIV Zonderval and Word of Promise versions.
Monotone voice leads to boring bible November 6, 2009 Chris, Michigan 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I get lost listening to the monotone voice of Stephen Johnston all the time. This use to be the only bible that I listened to, until the word of promise came out in 2007, which I purchased this year. The word of promise is by far superior to this bible, with more antimated scenes, lively voices, and better background music. It use to be a great bible if you dont know any better.
NLT audio Bible June 3, 2009 P. Ha (Corona CA USA) Very good audio bible. Highly recommended to anyone who does not have time to read the Bible but have a long commute.

Worth the Amazon price August 14, 2008 Mack R. (USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is more of a politically correct paraphrase of the Holy Scriptures. If politically correct references to God and mankind don't offend your sensibilities, then this isn't a bad buy.
Bible Alive is a great CD set if you want to listen to highly detailed Bible stories in the car or while working around the house. It's also a great way for people who are unfamiliar with the Bible to begin learning. The sound quality is fantastic and mine has a really nice leather case.
